قَالُواْ يَا نُوحُ قَدْ جَادَلْتَنَا فَأَكْثَرْتَ جِدَالَنَا فَأْتَنِا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ
Qaloo ya noohu qad jadaltana faaktharta jidalana fatina bima taAAiduna in kunta mina alssadiqeena

Suka ce: "Yã Nũhu, lalle ne kã yi jayayya da mu, sa´an nan kã yawaita yi mana jidãli, to, ka zõ mana da abin da kake yi mana wa´adi idan kã kasance daga mãsu gaskiya."
They said: "O Noah! thou hast disputed with us, and (much) hast thou prolonged the dispute with us: now bring upon us what thou threatenest us with, if thou speakest the truth!?"
They said: O Nuh! indeed you have disputed with us and lengthened dispute with us, therefore bring to us what you threaten us with, if you are of the truthful ones.
They said: O Noah! Thou hast disputed with us and multiplied disputation with us; now bring upon us that wherewith thou threatenest us, if thou art of the truthful.
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
The People's Request of Nuh to bring the Torment and His Response to Them
Allah, the Exalted, informs that the people of Nuh sought to hasten Allah's vengeance, torment, anger and the trial (His punishment).
This is based on their saying,
قَالُواْ يَا نُوحُ قَدْ جَادَلْتَنَا فَأَكْثَرْتَ جِدَالَنَا ...
They said: "O Nuh! You have disputed with us and much have you prolonged the dispute with us...''
They meant by this, "You (Nuh) have argued with us long enough, and we are still not going to follow you.''
... فَأْتَنِا بِمَا تَعِدُنَا ...
now bring upon us what you threaten us with,
What he (Nuh) promised is referring to the vengeance and torment (from Allah). They were actually saying, "Supplicate against us however you wish, and let whatever you have supplicated come to us.''
... إِن كُنتَ مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ ﴿٣٢﴾
قَالَ إِنَّمَا يَأْتِيكُم بِهِ اللّهُ إِن شَاء وَمَا أَنتُم بِمُعْجِزِينَ ﴿٣٣﴾
"...if you are of the truthful.''
(In reply to this), He said: "Only Allah will bring it (the punishment) on you, if He wills, and then you will escape not.
This means, `It is only Allah Who can punish you and hasten your punishment for you. He is the One from Whom nothing escapes.'
يقول تعالى مخبرا عن استعجال قوم نوح نقمة الله وعذابه وسخطه والبلاء موكل بالمنطق . " قالوا يا نوح قد جادلتنا فأكثرت جدالنا " أي حاججتنا فأكثرت من ذلك ونحن لا نتبعك " فأتنا بما تعدنا " أي من النقمة والعذاب ادع علينا بما شئت فليأتنا ما تدعو به " إن كنت من الصادقين " .
"قالوا يا نوح قد جادلتنا" خاصمتنا "فأكثرت جدالنا فأتنا بما تعدنا" به من العذاب "إن كنت من الصادقين" فيه
أي خاصمتنا فأكثرت خصومتنا وبالغت فيها . والجدل في كلام العرب المبالغة في الخصومة ; مشتق من الجدل وهو شدة الفتل ; ويقال للصقر أيضا أجدل لشدته في الطير ; وقد مضى هذا المعنى في " الأنعام " بأشبع من هذا . وقرأ ابن عباس " فأكثرت جدلنا " ذكره النحاس . والجدل في الدين محمود ; ولهذا جادل نوح والأنبياء قومهم حتى يظهر الحق , فمن قبله أنجح وأفلح , ومن رده خاب وخسر . وأما الجدال لغير الحق حتى يظهر الباطل في صورة الحق فمذموم , وصاحبه في الدارين ملوم .
I'raab - grammatical analysis of the Qur'an
«قالُوا» ماض وفاعله والجملة مستأنفة.
«يا نُوحُ» يا أداة نداء ونوح منادى مفرد علم مبني على الضم في محل نصب والجملة مقول القول.
«قَدْ» حرف تحقيق.
«جادَلْتَنا» ماض وفاعله ومفعوله والجملة مقول القول.
«فَأَكْثَرْتَ» الفاء عاطفة وماض وفاعله.
«جِدالَنا» مفعول به.
«فَأْتِنا» الفاء عاطفة وأمر ومفعوله وفاعله مستتر والجملة معطوفة.
«بِما» ما موصولية ومتعلقان بأتنا.
«تَعِدُنا» مضارع مرفوع ونا مفعوله وفاعله مستتر والجملة صلة.
«إِنْ» شرطية.
«كُنْتَ» كان واسمها والجملة ابتدائية.
«مِنَ الصَّادِقِينَ» متعلقان بالخبر المحذوف وجواب الشرط محذوف دل عليه ما قبله.
