وَمَن يَعْشُ عَن ذِكْرِ الرَّحْمَنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَاناً
فَهُوَ لَهُ قَرِينٌ

الَّذِينَ كَانَتْ أَعْيُنُهُمْ فِي غِطَاء عَن ذِكْرِي وَكَانُوا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَمْعاً
Allatheena kanat aAAyunuhum fee ghitain AAan thikree wakanoo la yastateeAAoona samAAan

Waɗanda idãnunsu suka kasance a cikin rufi daga tunã(3) Ni, kuma sun kasance bã su iya saurãrãwa.
(Unbelievers) whose eyes had been under a veil from remembrance of Me, and who had been unable even to hear.
They whose eyes were under a cover from My reminder and they could not even hear.
Those whose eyes were hoodwinked from My reminder, and who could not bear to hear.
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
الَّذِينَ كَانَتْ أَعْيُنُهُمْ فِي غِطَاء عَن ذِكْرِي ...
(To) those whose eyes had been under a covering from My Reminder,
meaning, they neglected it, turning a blind eye and a deaf ear to it, refusing to accept guidance and follow the truth.
As Allah says:
وَمَن يَعْشُ عَن ذِكْرِ الرَّحْمَـنِ نُقَيِّضْ لَهُ شَيْطَاناً فَهُوَ لَهُ قَرِينٌ
And whosoever turns away blindly from the remembrance of the Most Gracious, We appoint for him a Shaytan to be a companion for him. (43:36)
And here Allah says:
... وَكَانُوا لَا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ سَمْعًا ﴿١٠١﴾
and they could not bear to hear (it).
meaning, they did not understand the commands and prohibitions of Allah.
Then He says:
" الذين كانت أعينهم في غطاء عن ذكري " أي تغافلوا وتعاموا وتصامموا عن قبول الهدى واتباع الحق كما قال : " ومن يعش عن ذكر الرحمن نقيض له شيطانا فهو له قرين " وقال هنا " وكانوا لا يستطيعون سمعا " أي لا يعقلون عن الله أمره ونهيه .
"الذين كانت أعينهم" بدل من الكافرين "في غطاء عن ذكري" أي القرآن فهم عمي لا يهتدون به "وكانوا لا يستطيعون سمعا" أي لا يقدرون أن يسمعوا من النبي ما يتلوه عليهم بغضا له فلا يؤمنون به
في موضع خفض نعت " للكافرين " .

«الَّذِينَ» اسم موصول مبني على الفتح في محل جر صفة للكافرين «كانَتْ أَعْيُنُهُمْ» كان واسمها والهاء مضاف إليه والجملة صلة «فِي غِطاءٍ» متعلقان بخبر كان المحذوف «عَنْ ذِكْرِي» متعلقان بمحذوف صفة لغطاء والياء مضاف إليه «وَكانُوا» الواو عاطفة وكان واسمها والجملة معطوفة «لا يَسْتَطِيعُونَ» لا نافية ومضارع فاعله واو الجماعة والجملة في محل نصب خبر كانوا «سَمْعاً» مفعول به
