وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللّهُ قَالُواْ بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا أَلْفَيْنَا عَلَيْهِ
آبَاءنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ آبَاؤُهُمْ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ شَيْئاً وَلاَ
يَهْتَدُونَ

وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءنَا أَوَلَوْ كَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى عَذَابِ السَّعِيرِ
Waitha qeela lahumu ittabiAAoo ma anzala Allahu qaloo bal nattabiAAu ma wajadna AAalayhi abaana awalaw kana alshshaytanu yadAAoohum ila AAathabi alssaAAeeri

Kuma idan aka ce musu, "Ku bi abin da Allah ya saukar," sai su ce: "ôa, munã bin abin da muka sãmi ubanninmu a kansa." shin kõ dã Shaiɗan nã kiran su ne zuwa ga azãbar sa´ir,
When they are told to follow the (Revelation) that Allah has sent down, they say: "Nay, we shall follow the ways that we found our fathers (following). "What! even if it is Satan beckoning them to the Penalty of the (Blazing) Fire?
And when it is said to them: Follow what Allah has revealed, they say: Nay, we follow that on which we found our fathers. What! though the Shaitan calls them to the chastisement of the burning fire!
And if it be said unto them: Follow that which Allah hath revealed, they say: Nay, but we follow that wherein we found our fathers. What! Even though the devil were inviting them unto the doom of flame?
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
Allah says:
وَإِذَا قِيلَ لَهُمُ ...
And when it is said to them,
means, to these people who dispute about the Oneness of Allah.
... اتَّبِعُوا مَا أَنزَلَ اللَّهُ ...
"Follow that which Allah has sent down,''
means, the pure Divine Laws that He has sent down to His Messengers,
... قَالُوا بَلْ نَتَّبِعُ مَا وَجَدْنَا عَلَيْهِ آبَاءنَا ...
they say: "Nay, we shall follow that which we found our fathers (following).''
means, they have no other proof except the fact that they are following their forefathers.
Allah says:
أَوَلَوْ كَانَ ءَابَاؤُهُمْ لاَ يَعْقِلُونَ شَيْئًا وَلاَ يَهْتَدُونَ
Even though their fathers did not understand anything nor were they guided. (2:170)
meaning, `what do you think, you who take the forefathers' deeds as proof, that they were misguided and you are following in their footsteps!'
Allah says:
... أَوَلَوْ كَانَ الشَّيْطَانُ يَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَى عَذَابِ السَّعِيرِ ﴿٢١﴾
Even if Shaytan invites them to the torment of the Fire!
" وإذا قيل لهم " أي لهؤلاء المجادلين في توحيد الله " اتبعوا ما أنزل الله " أي على رسوله من الشرائع المطهرة" قالوا بل نتبع ما وجدنا عليه آباءنا " أي لم يكن لهم حجة إلا اتباع الآباء الأقدمين قال الله تعالى " أولو كان آباؤهم لا يعقلون شيئا ولا يهتدون " أي فما ظنكم أيها المحتجون بصنيع آبائهم أنهم كانوا على ضلالة وأنتم خلف لهم فيما كانوا فيه ولهذا قال تعالى " أولو كان الشيطان يدعوهم إلى عذاب السعير " .
"ولو كان الشيطان يدعوهم إلى عذاب السعير" أي موجباته ؟ لا
وإلا تقليدهم للأسلاف .

«وَ» الواو حرف استئناف «إِذا» ظرفية شرطية غير جازمة «قِيلَ» ماض مبني للمجهول «لَهُمُ» متعلقان بالفعل والجملة في محل جر بالإضافة «اتَّبِعُوا» أمر وفاعله «ما» مفعول به والجملة في محل رفع نائب فاعل لقيل «أَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ» ماض ولفظ الجلالة فاعله والجملة صلة ما «قالُوا» ماض وفاعله والجملة جواب الشرط لا محل لها «بَلْ» حرف إضراب «نَتَّبِعُ» مضارع فاعله مستتر «ما» مفعول به والجملة مقول القول «وَجَدْنا» ماض وفاعله «عَلَيْهِ» متعلقان بالفعل «آباءَنا» مفعول به. والجملة صلة ما. «أَوَلَوْ» الهمزة حرف استفهام إنكاري والواو حرف عطف «لَوْ» شرطية غير جازمة وجوابها محذوف «كانَ الشَّيْطانُ» كان واسمها «يَدْعُوهُمْ» مضارع ومفعوله والفاعل مستتر والجملة خبر كان وجملة كان ..
ابتدائية لا محل لها «إِلى عَذابِ» متعلقان بالفعل «السَّعِيرِ» مضاف إليه
