كُتِبَ عَلَيْكُمُ الْقِتَالُ وَهُوَ كُرْهٌ لَّكُمْ وَعَسَى أَن تَكْرَهُواْ
شَيْئاً وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ وَعَسَى أَن تُحِبُّواْ شَيْئاً وَهُوَ شَرٌّ لَّكُمْ
وَاللّهُ يَعْلَمُ وَأَنتُمْ لاَ تَعْلَمُونَ

وَعَدَكُمُ اللَّهُ مَغَانِمَ كَثِيرَةً تَأْخُذُونَهَا فَعَجَّلَ لَكُمْ هَذِهِ وَكَفَّ أَيْدِيَ النَّاسِ عَنكُمْ وَلِتَكُونَ آيَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ صِرَاطاً مُّسْتَقِيماً
WaAAadakumu Allahu maghanima katheeratan takhuthoonaha faAAajjala lakum hathihi wakaffa aydiya alnnasi AAankum walitakoona ayatan lilmumineena wayahdiyakum siratan mustaqeeman

Kuma Allah Yã yi muku wa´adin waɗansu ganĩmõmi mãsu yawa, waɗanda zã ku karɓo su, kuma Ya gaggauta(3) muku wannan. Kuma Ya kange(4) hannãyen mutãne daga gare ku, kuma dõmin ta kasance wata ãyã ce ga mũminai, kuma Yã shiryar da ku ga hanya madaidaiciya.
Allah has promised you many gains that ye shall acquire, and He has given you these beforehand; and He has restrained the hands of men from you; that it may be a Sign for the Believers, and that He may guide you to a Straight Path;
Allah promised you many acquisitions which you will take, then He hastened on this one for you and held back the hands of men from you, and that it may be a sign for the believers and that He may guide you on a right path.
Allah promiseth you much booty that ye will capture, and hath given you this in advance, and hath withheld men's hands from you, that it may be a token for the believers, and that He may guide you on a right path.

Good News of abundant Spoils of War
Mujahid said that Allah's statement,
وَعَدَكُمُ اللَّهُ مَغَانِمَ كَثِيرَةً تَأْخُذُونَهَا ...
Allah has promised you abundant spoils that you will capture,
refers to the spoils that Muslims earned up until this time, while,
... فَعَجَّلَ لَكُمْ هَذِهِ ...
and He has hastened for you this,
means, the conquest of Khyber.
Al-`Awfi reported that Ibn Abbas said, فَعَجَّلَ لَكُمْ هَذِهِ (and He has hastened for you this), means,
"The peace treaty of Al-Hudaybiyyah.''
Allah said,
... وَكَفَّ أَيْدِيَ النَّاسِ عَنكُمْ ...
and He has restrained the hands of men from you,
meaning, `no harm that your enemies had planned against you, both fighting and warfare, touched you. Allah also restrained the hands of men, whom you left behind close to your families and children, from harming them,'
... وَلِتَكُونَ آيَةً لِّلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ...
that it may be a sign for the believers,
with which they take heed and understand.
Verily, Allah the Exalted and Most Honored shall help and protect the believers against all enemies, even though the believers are few in number. By doing so, the believers will come to know that Allah is truly the Knower of the consequences of all matters and that the best decisions are those which He prefers for His believing servants, even though these decisions might look unfavorable outwardly,
وَعَسَى أَن تَكْرَهُواْ شَيْئًا وَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَّكُمْ
It may be that you dislike a thing that is good for you. (2:216).
Allah said,
... وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ صِرَاطًا مُّسْتَقِيمًا ﴿٢٠﴾
and that He may guide you to the straight path.
i.e. on account of your obeying His commands and adhering by His orders by following the path of His Messenger ,
قال مجاهد في قوله تعالى " وعدكم الله مغانم كثيرة تأخذونها" هي جميع المغانم إلى اليوم " فعجل لكم هذه" يعني فتح خيبر وروى العوفي عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما " فعجل لكم هذه " يعني صلح الحديبية" وكف أيدي الناس عنكم " أي لم ينلكم سوء مما كان أعداؤكم أضمروه لكم من المحاربة والقتال وكذلك كف أيدي الناس عنكم الذين خلفتموهم وراء ظهوركم عن عيالكم وحريمكم " ولتكون آية للمؤمنين " أي يعتبرون بذلك فإن الله تعالى حافظهم وناصرهم على سائر الأعداء مع قلة عددهم وليعلموا بصنيع الله هذا بهم أنه العالم بعواقب الأمور وأن الخيرة فيما يختاره لعباده المؤمنين وإن كرهوه في الظاهر كما قال عز وجل " وعسى أن تكرهوا شيئا وهو خير لكم " " ويهديكم صراطا مستقيما " أي بسبب انقيادكم لأمره واتباعكم طاعته وموافقتكم رسوله صلى الله عليه وسلم.
"وعدكم الله مغانم كثيرة تأخذونها" من الفتوحات "فعجل لكم هذه" غنيمة خيبر "وكف أيدي الناس عنكم" في عيالكم لما خرجتم وهمت بهم اليهود فقذف الله في قلوبهم الرعب "ولتكون" أي المعجلة عطف على مقدر أي لتشكروه "آية للمؤمنين" في نصرهم "ويهديكم صراطا مستقيما" أي طريق التوكل عليه وتفويض الأمر إليه تعالى
قال ابن عباس ومجاهد . إنها المغانم التي تكون إلى يوم القيامة . وقال ابن زيد : هي مغانم خيبر .

«وَعَدَكُمُ» ماض ومفعوله.
«اللَّهُ» لفظ الجلالة فاعل مؤخر.
«مَغانِمَ» مفعول به ثان.
«كَثِيرَةً» صفة والجملة مستأنفة.
«تَأْخُذُونَها» مضارع مرفوع بثبوت النون والواو فاعله والهاء مفعوله والجملة صفة مغانم.
«فَعَجَّلَ» ماض فاعله مستتر.
«لَكُمْ» متعلقان بالفعل.
«هذِهِ» مفعول به والجملة معطوفة على ما قبلها.
«وَكَفَّ» ماض فاعله مستتر.
«أَيْدِيَ» مفعول به.
«النَّاسِ» مضاف إليه.
«عَنْكُمْ» متعلقان بالفعل والجملة معطوفة على ما قبلها.
«وَلِتَكُونَ» الواو حرف عطف ومضارع ناقص منصوب بأن المضمرة بعد لام التعليل واسمه مستتر.
«آيَةً» خبره.
«لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ» متعلقان بمحذوف صفة والمصدر المؤول من أن والفعل في محل جر باللام والجار والمجرور متعلقان بكف.
«وَيَهْدِيَكُمْ» حرف عطف ومضارع ومفعوله والفاعل مستتر.
«صِراطاً» مفعول به ثان.
«مُسْتَقِيماً» صفة والجملة معطوفة.
