فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ

Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
فَلَمَّا رَأَوْهَا قَالُوا إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ ﴿٢٦﴾
But when they saw it, they said: "Verily, we have gone astray.''
meaning, when they arrived at it and came upon it, and it was in the condition which Allah changed from that luster, brilliance and abundance of fruit, to being black, gloomy and void of any benefit. They believed that they had been mistaken in the path they took in walking to it. This is why they said, إِنَّا لَضَالُّونَ (Verily, we have gone astray).
meaning, `we have walked down a path other than the one we were seeking to reach it.'
This was said by Ibn `Abbas and others.
Then they changed their minds and realized with certainty that it was actually the correct path.
أي فلما وصلوا إليها وأشرفوا عليها وهي على الحالة التي قال الله عز وجل قد استحالت عن تلك النضارة والزهرة وكثرة الثمار إلى أن صارت سوداء مدلهمة لا ينتفع بشيء منها فاعتقدوا أنهم قد أخطئوا الطريق ولهذا قالوا " إنا لضالون " أي قد سلكنا إليها غير الطريق فتهنا عنها قاله ابن عباس وغيره ثم رجعوا عما كانوا فيه وتيقنوا أنها هي فقالوا" بل نحن محرومون " .
"فلما رأوها" سوداء محترقة "قالوا إنا لضالون" عنها أي ليست هذه ثم قالوا لما علموها
أي لما رأوها محترقة لا شيء فيها قد صارت كالليل الأسود ينظرون إليها كالرماد , أنكروها وشكوا فيها . وقال بعضهم لبعض : " إنا لضالون " أي ضللنا الطريق إلى جنتنا ; قاله قتادة . وقيل : أي إنا لضالون عن الصواب في غدونا على نية منع المساكين ; فلذلك عوقبنا .

«فَلَمَّا» الفاء حرف استئناف «لما» ظرفية شرطية غير جازمة «رَأَوْها» ماض وفاعله ومفعوله والجملة في محل جر بالإضافة «قالُوا» ماض وفاعله والجملة جواب الشرط لا محل لها «إِنَّا» إن واسمها «لَضَالُّونَ» اللام المزحلقة «ضالون» خبرها والجملة الاسمية مقول القول
