وَإِذَا
أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ أَنْ آمِنُواْ بِاللّهِ وَجَاهِدُواْ مَعَ رَسُولِهِ اسْتَأْذَنَكَ
أُوْلُواْ الطَّوْلِ مِنْهُمْ وَقَالُواْ ذَرْنَا نَكُن مَّعَ الْقَاعِدِينَ

وَإِذَا مَا أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ فَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ أَيُّكُمْ زَادَتْهُ هَـذِهِ إِيمَاناً فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ فَزَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَاناً وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ
Waitha ma onzilat sooratun faminhum man yaqoolu ayyukum zadathu hathihi eemanan faamma allatheena amanoo fazadathum eemanan wahum yastabshiroona

Kuma idan aka saukar(2) da wata sũra, to, daga gare su akwai waɗanda suke cħwa: "Wãne ne a cikinku wannan sũra ta ƙãra masa ĩmãni?" To amma waɗanda suka yi ĩmãni, to, ta ƙara musu imani, kuma sũ, sunã yin bushãra (da ita).
English Translation
Whenever there cometh down a sura, some of them say: "Which of you has had His faith increased by it?" Yea, those who believe,- their faith is increased and they do rejoice.
And whenever a chapter is revealed, there are some of them who say: Which of you has it strengthened in faith? Then as for those who believe, it strengthens them in faith and they rejoice.
And whenever a surah is revealed there are some of them who say: Which one of you hath thus increased in faith? As for those who believe, it hath increased them in faith and they rejoice (therefor).

Tafseer (English)
Faith of the Believers increases, while Hypocrites increase in Doubts and Suspicion
Allah said,
وَإِذَا مَا أُنزِلَتْ سُورَةٌ ...
And whenever there comes down a Surah,
then among the hypocrites are,
... فَمِنْهُم مَّن يَقُولُ أَيُّكُمْ زَادَتْهُ هَـذِهِ إِيمَانًا ...
some of them say: "Which of you has had his faith increased by it!''
They say to each other, who among you had his faith increased by this Surah (from the Qur'an).
Allah the Exalted said,
... فَأَمَّا الَّذِينَ آمَنُواْ فَزَادَتْهُمْ إِيمَانًا وَهُمْ يَسْتَبْشِرُونَ ﴿١٢٤﴾
As for those who believe, it has increased their faith, and they rejoice.
This Ayah is one of the mightiest evidences that faith increases and decreases, as is the belief of most of the Salaf and later generations of scholars and Imams.
Many scholars said that there is a consensus on this ruling. We explained this subject in detail in the beginning of the explanation of Sahih Al-Bukhari, may Allah grant him His mercy.
Allah said next,
Tafseer (Arabic)
يقول تعالى " وإذا ما أنزلت سورة " فمن المنافقين " من يقول أيكم زادته هذه إيمانا " أي يقول بعضهم لبعض أيكم زادته هذه السورة إيمانا قال الله تعالى " فأما الذين آمنوا فزادتهم إيمانا وهم يستبشرون " وهذه الآية من أكبر الدلائل على أن الإيمان يزيد وينقص كما هو مذهب أكثر السلف والخلف من أئمة العلماء . بل قد حكى غير واحد الإجماع على ذلك .
"وإذا ما أنزلت سورة" من القرآن "فمنهم" أي المنافقين "من يقول" لأصحابه استهزاء "أيكم زادته هذه إيمانا" تصديقا "فأما الذين آمنوا فزادتهم إيمانا" لتصديقهم بها "وهم يستبشرون" يفرحون بها
" ما " صلة , والمراد المنافقون . " أيكم زادته هذه إيمانا " قد تقدم القول في زيادة الإيمان ونقصانه في سورة [ آل عمران ] . وقد تقدم معنى السورة في مقدمة الكتاب , فلا معنى للإعادة . وكتب الحسن إلى عمر بن عبد العزيز ( إن للإيمان سننا وفرائض من استكملها فقد استكمل الإيمان ومن لم يستكملها لم يستكمل الإيمان ) قال عمر بن عبد العزيز : ( فإن أعش فسأبينها لكم وإن أمت فما أنا على صحبتكم بحريص ) . ذكره البخاري . وقال ابن المبارك لم أجد بدا من أن أقول بزيادة الإيمان وإلا رددت القرآن .
