Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
Allah's statement:
وَنَجِّنَا بِرَحْمَتِكَ ...
And save us by Your mercy,
means save us through Your mercy and beneficence
... مِنَ الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ ﴿٨٦﴾
from the disbelieving folk.
meaning, from those who denied the truth and covered it. We truly have believed in You and put our trust in You.
وقوله " ونجنا برحمتك " أي خلصنا برحمة منك وإحسان " من القوم الكافرين " أي الذين كفروا الحق وستروه ونحن قد آمنا بك وتوكلنا عليك .
أي خلصنا .
I'raab - grammatical analysis of the Qur'an
«وَنَجِّنا» الواو عاطفة وفعل دعاء مبني على حذف حرف العلة ونا مفعول به وفاعله مستتر.
«مِنَ الْقَوْمِ» متعلقان بنجنا.
«الْكافِرِينَ» صفة مجرورة بالياء لأنها جمع مذكر سالم.
