وَإِذَا سَمِعُواْ مَا أُنزِلَ إِلَى الرَّسُولِ تَرَى أَعْيُنَهُمْ تَفِيضُ مِنَ
الدَّمْعِ مِمَّا عَرَفُواْ مِنَ الْحَقِّ يَقُولُونَ رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ
الشَّاهِدِينَ

"Yã Ubangijinmu! Mun yi imãni da abin da Ka saukar, kuma mun bi ManzonKa, sai Ka rubũta mu tãre da mãsu shaida.(1) .
"Our Lord! we believe in what Thou hast revealed, and we follow the Messenger; then write us down among those who bear witness."
Our Lord! we believe in what Thou hast revealed and we follow the messenger, so write us down with those who bear witness.
Our Lord! We believe in that which Thou hast revealed and we follow him whom Thou hast sent. Enrol us among those who witness (to the truth).
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
رَبَّنَا آمَنَّا بِمَا أَنزَلَتْ وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ ﴿٥٣﴾
Al-Hawariyyun said: "We are the helpers of Allah; we believe in Allah, and bear witness that we are Muslims.
Our Lord! We believe in what You have sent down, and we follow the Messenger; so write us down among those who bear witness.''
Hawari in Arabic - means `support'.
The Two Sahihs recorded that;
when the Prophet encouraged the people to fight during the battle of Al-Ahzab, Az-Zubayr came forward, and again, when the Prophet asked for fighters a second time. The Prophet said,
إِنَّ لِكُلِّ نَبِيَ حَوَارِيًّا، وَحَوَارِيِّي الزُّبَيْر
Every Prophet has a Hawari, and Az-Zubayr is my Hawari.
Ibn Abi Hatim recorded that Ibn Abbas said about, فَاكْتُبْنَا مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ (so write us down among those who bear witness),
"Meaning among the Ummah of Muhammad.''
This Hadith has a good chain of narration.
وقال ابن أبي حاتم : حدثنا أبو سعيد الأشج حدثنا وكيع حدثنا إسرائيل عن سماك عن عكرمة عن ابن عباس رضي الله عنهما في قوله " فاكتبنا مع الشاهدين " قال : مع أمة محمد صلى الله عليه وسلم وهذا إسناد جيد .
"ربنا آمنا بما أنزلت" من الإنجيل "واتبعنا الرسول" عيسى "فاكتبنا مع الشاهدين" لك بالوحدانية ولرسولك بالصدق
أي يقولون ربنا آمنا .
I'raab - grammatical analysis of the Qur'an
«رَبَّنا» منادى بأداة نداء محذوفة وهو مضاف ونا مضاف إليه.
«آمَنَّا» فعل ماض وفاعل «بِما» متعلقان بآمنا.
«أَنْزَلْتَ» فعل ماض وفاعل والجملة صلة الموصول.
«وَاتَّبَعْنَا الرَّسُولَ» فعل ماض وفاعل ومفعول به والجملة معطوفة على آمنا.
«فَاكْتُبْنا» الفاء هي فاء الفصيحة أي إذا آمنا فاكتبنا وفعل دعاء وفاعل والجملة جواب شرط غير جازم.
«مَعَ الشَّاهِدِينَ» متعلقان باكتبنا.
«وَمَكَرُوا» الواو استئنافية مكروا فعل ماض وفاعل وجملة «وَمَكَرَ اللَّهُ» معطوفة.
«وَاللَّهُ خَيْرُ» لفظ الجلالة مبتدأ وخير خبر.
و«الْماكِرِينَ» مضاف إليه والجملة حالية.
