Kuma kai ba ka zama mai shiryar da ɗimammu daga ɓata ba. Bã ka jiyarwa fãce wanda yake yin ĩmãni da ãyõyinMu. To, sũ ne mãsu sallamãwa (al´amari zuwa ga Allah).
Nor canst thou be a guide to the blind, (to prevent them) from straying: only those wilt thou get to listen who believe in Our Signs, and they will bow in Islam.
Nor can you be a guide to the blind out of their error; you cannot make to bear (any one) except those who believe in Our communications, so they submit.
Nor canst thou lead the blind out of their error. Thou canst make none to hear, save those who believe Our revelations and who have surrendered.
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
Allah says:
إِنَّكَ لَا تُسْمِعُ الْمَوْتَى ...
Verily, you cannot make the dead to hear,
meaning, you cannot cause them to hear anything that will benefit them. The same applies to those over whose hearts is a veil and in whose ears is deafness of disbelief.
Allah says:
... وَلَا تُسْمِعُ الصُّمَّ الدُّعَاء إِذَا وَلَّوْا مُدْبِرِينَ ﴿٨٠﴾
وَمَا أَنتَ بِهَادِي الْعُمْيِ عَن ضَلَالَتِهِمْ إِن تُسْمِعُ إِلَّا مَن يُؤْمِنُ بِآيَاتِنَا فَهُم مُّسْلِمُونَ ﴿٨١﴾
nor can you make the deaf to hear the call, when they flee, turning their backs. Nor can you lead the blind out of their error. You can only make to hear those who believe in Our Ayat, so they submit (became Muslims).
meaning, those who have hearing and insight will respond to you, those whose hearing and sight are of benefit to their hearts and who are humble towards Allah and to the Message that comes to them through the mouths of the Messengers, may peace be upon them.
أي إنما يستجيب لك من هو سميع بصير السمع والبصر النافع في القلب والبصيرة الخاضع لله ولما جاء عنه على ألسنة الرسل .
"وما أنت بهادي العمي عن ضلالتهم إن" ما "تسمع" سماع إفهام وقبول "إلا من يؤمن بآياتنا" القرآن "فهم مسلمون" مخلصون بتوحيد الله
بهادي العمي عن ضلالتهم " أي كفرهم ; أي ليس في وسعك خلق الإيمان في قلوبهم . وقرأ حمزة : " وما أنت تهدي العمي عن ضلالتهم " كقوله : " أفأنت تهدي العمي " . الباقون : ( بهادي العمي ) وهي اختيار أبي عبيد وأبي حاتم وفي [ الروم ] مثله . وكلهم وقف على ( بهادي ) بالياء في هذه السورة وبغير ياء في [ الروم ] اتباعا للمصحف , إلا يعقوب فإنه وقف فيهما جميعا بالياء . وأجاز الفراء وأبو حاتم : ( وما أنت بهاد العمي ) وهي الأصل . وفي حرف عبد الله ( وما أن تهدي العمي ) .

«وَما» الواو حرف استئناف وما نافية تعمل عمل ليس «أَنْتَ» اسمها «بِهادِي» الباء حرف جر زائد وهادي اسم مجرور لفظا منصوب محلا خبر ما «الْعُمْيِ» مضاف إليه والجملة مستأنفة لا محل لها «عَنْ ضَلالَتِهِمْ» متعلقان بهادي «إِنْ تُسْمِعُ» إن نافية ومضارع فاعله مستتر «إِلَّا» حرف حصر «مَنْ» اسم موصول في محل نصب مفعول به «يُؤْمِنُ» مضارع فاعله مستتر والجملة صلة «بِآياتِنا» متعلقان بالفعل «فَهُمْ» الفاء حرف عطف «هم مسلمون» مبتدأ وخبره والجملة الاسمية معطوفة على ما قبلها وجملة إن تسمع .. مستأنفة لا محل لها
