ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَأَنَّ الْكَافِرِينَ لَا مَوْلَى لَهُمْ

Wancan! Sabõda lalle Allah ne Majiɓincin waɗanda suka yi ĩmãni, kuma lalle, kafirai bãbu wani majiɓinci a gare su.
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
Then Allah says,
ذَلِكَ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَى الَّذِينَ آمَنُوا وَأَنَّ الْكَافِرِينَ لَا مَوْلَى لَهُمْ ﴿١١﴾
That is because Allah is the Protector of all those who believe, whereas the disbelievers have no protector.
After the battle of Uhud, Abu Sufyan Sakhr bin Harb, the commander of the idolators at that time, inquired about the Prophet, Abu Bakr, and Umar, may Allah be pleased with them. When he heard no response, he announced:
"Verily, those three have died!''
Umar then responded to him: "You lie, O enemy of Allah! Allah has indeed saved those who will displease you. Indeed, those whom you mentioned are all alive!''
Abu Sufyan then said: "Well, today makes up for (the defeat on) the day of Badr, and the war has its ups and downs. And indeed, you are going to find mutilation (in the bodies of your dead) that I did not command, nor did I prohibit.''
Then he turned around chanting: "Glory to Hubal (their greatest idol), Glory to Hubal.''
Allah's Messenger said:
أَلَا تُجِيبُوهُ؟
Aren't you going to respond to him?
The Companions said: "What should we say, O Messenger of Allah''
He said:
قُولُوا: اللهُ أَعْلَى وَأَجَل
Say: "Allah is Most High and Most Glorious.''
Then Abu Sufyan said: "We have Al-`Uzza (their second idol), and you have no `Uzza. (honor).''
Allah's Messenger said:
أَلَا تُجِيبُوهُ؟
Aren't you all going to respond to him?
They said: "What should we say, O Messenger of Allah''
He said:
قُولُوا: اللهُ مَوْلَانَا وَلَا مَوْلَى لَكُم
Say: "Allah is our Protector, and you have no protector.''
ولهذا لما قال أبو سفيان صخر بن حرب رئيس المشركين يوم أحد حين سأل عن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم وعن أبي بكر وعمر رضي الله عنهما فلم يجب وقال أما هؤلاء فقد هلكوا وأجابه عمر بن الخطاب رضي الله عنه فقال كذبت يا عدو الله بل أبقى الله تعالى لك ما يسوءك وإن الذين عددت لأحياء فقال أبو سفيان يوم بيوم بدر والحرب سجال أما إنكم ستجدون مثلة لم آمر بها ولم أنه عنها ذهب يرتجز ويقول ثم اعل هبل اعل هبل فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم" ألا تجيبوه ؟ " قالوا يا رسول الله وما نقول ؟ قال صلى الله عليه وسلم قولوا " الله أعلى وأجل" ثم قال أبو سفيان لنا العزى ولا عزى لكم فقال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم " ألا تجيبوه ؟ " قالوا وما نقول يا رسول الله ؟ قال قولوا " الله مولانا ولا مولى لكم " .
"ذلك" نصر المؤمنين وقهر الكافرين "بأن الله مولى" ولي وناصر
أي وليهم وناصرهم . وفي حرف ابن مسعود " ذلك بأن الله ولي الذين آمنوا " . فالمولى : الناصر هاهنا , قاله ابن عباس وغيره . قال : فغدت كلا الفرجين تحسب أنه مولى المخافة خلفها وأمامها قال قتادة : نزلت يوم أحد والنبي صلى الله عليه وسلم في الشعب , إذ صاح المشركون : يوم بيوم , لنا العزى ولا عزى لكم , قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم : [ قولوا الله مولانا ولا مولى لكم ] وقد تقدم .
I'raab - grammatical analysis of the Qur'an
«ذلِكَ» مبتدأ.
«بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ مَوْلَى» أن واسمها وخبرها.
«الَّذِينَ» مضاف إليه.
«آمَنُوا» ماض وفاعله والجملة صلة الذين والمصدر المؤول من أن وما بعدها في محل جر بالباء وهما متعلقان بمحذوف خبر المبتدأ.
«وَ أَنَّ الْكافِرِينَ» معطوف على ما قبله.
«لا» نافية للجنس تعمل عمل إن.
«مَوْلَى» اسمها.
«لَهُمْ» جار ومجرور خبرها والجملة الاسمية خبر أن.
