وَأَصْحَابُ الْأَيْكَةِ وَقَوْمُ تُبَّعٍ كُلٌّ كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ

فَعَصَوْا رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً

Dõmin sun sãɓã wa manzon Ubangijinsu, sabõda haka ya kãmã su da wani irin kãmu mai ƙãruwar (tsanani).
And disobeyed (each) the messenger of their Lord; so He punished them with an abundant Penalty.
And they disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord, so He punished them with a vehement punishment.
And they disobeyed the messenger of their Lord, therefor did He grip them with a tightening grip.
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
Thus, Allah says,
فَعَصَوْا رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ ...
And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger,
meaning they were all of the same type, they all denied the Messenger of Allah who was sent to them.
As Allah says, (38:14)
كُلٌّ كَذَّبَ الرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ وَعِيدِ
Everyone of them denied the Messengers, so My threat took effect.
So whoever denies a Messenger, then verily, he denies all of the Messengers.
This is as Allah says,
كَذَّبَتْ قَوْمُ نُوحٍ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
The people of Nuh belied the Messengers,
كَذَّبَتْ عَادٌ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
`Ad belied the Messengers.
كَذَّبَتْ ثَمُودُ الْمُرْسَلِينَ
Thamud belied the Messengers.
However, only one Messenger came to every nation. Thus, Allah says here,
فَعَصَوْا رَسُولَ رَبِّهِمْ فَأَخَذَهُمْ أَخْذَةً رَّابِيَةً ﴿١٠﴾
And they disobeyed their Lord's Messenger, so He seized them with a punishment that was Rabiyah.
Rabiyah means, great, severe and painful.
Mujahid said, "Rabiyah means severe.''
As-Suddi said, "It means destructive.''
لهذا قال تعالى " فعصوا رسول ربهم " وهذا جنس أي كل كذب رسول الله إليهم كما قال تعالى " كل كذب الرسل فحق وعيد " ومن كذب برسول فقد كذب بالجميع كما قال تعالى " كذبت قوم نوح المرسلين " " كذبت عاد المرسلين " " كذبت ثمود المرسلين " وإنما جاء إلى كل أمة رسول واحد ولهذا قال ههنا " فعصوا رسول ربهم فأخذهم أخذة رابية " أي عظيمة شديدة أليمة قال مجاهد رابية شديدة وقال السدي مهلكة.
"فعصوا رسول ربهم" أي لوطا وغيره "فأخذهم أخذة رابية" زائدة في الشدة على غيرها
قال الكلبي : هو موسى . وقيل : هو لوط لأنه أقرب . وقيل : عنى موسى ولوطا عليهما السلام ; كما قال تعالى : " فقولا إنا رسول رب العالمين " [ الشعراء : 16 ] . وقيل : " رسول " بمعنى رسالة . وقد يعبر عن الرسالة بالرسول ; قال الشاعر : لقد كذب الواشون ما بحت عندهم بسر ولا أرسلتهم برسول
