قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ

Hausa Translation

Ya ce: &quotLalle ne ku mutãne ne waɗanda ba a sani ba.&quot

He said: "Ye appear to be uncommon folk."
He said: Surely you are an unknown people.
He said: Lo! ye are folk unknown (to me).

Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)

قَالَ إِنَّكُمْ قَوْمٌ مُّنكَرُونَ ﴿٦٢﴾

قَالُواْ بَلْ جِئْنَاكَ بِمَا كَانُواْ فِيهِ يَمْتَرُونَ ﴿٦٣﴾

He said: "Verily, you are people unknown to me.''

They said: "Nay, we have come to you with that (torment) which they have been doubting.''

meaning that they were bringing the punishment and destruction that the people doubted they would ever suffer from.

قال إنكم قوم منكرون .

"قال" لهم "إنكم قوم منكرون" لا أعرفكم

أي لا أعرفكم . وقيل : كانوا شبابا ورأى جمالا فخاف عليهم من فتنة قومه ; فهذا هو الإنكار .

«إِنَّكُمْ» إن واسمها.
«قَوْمٌ» خبر.
«مُنْكَرُونَ» صفة لقوم والجملة مقول القول.
