قَالَ الْمَلأُ مِن قَوْمِ فِرْعَوْنَ إِنَّ هَـذَا لَسَاحِرٌ

(Fir´auna) ya ce ga mashãwarta a għfensa, "Lalle ne, wannan haƙĩƙa, masihirci ne, mai ilmi!
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
قَالَ لِلْمَلَإِ حَوْلَهُ ...
He said to the chiefs around him:
Since Fir`awn was already doomed, he hastened to stubborn denial, and said to the chiefs around him:
... إِنَّ هَذَا لَسَاحِرٌ عَلِيمٌ ﴿٣٤﴾
Verily, this is indeed a well-versed sorcerer.
One who knows a great deal of magic or witchcraft.
Fir`awn was trying to convince them that this was sorcery, not a miracle. Then he provoked them against Musa, trying to make them oppose him and disbelieve in him, and said:
فقال للملإ حوله " إن هذا لساحر عليم " أي فاضل بارع في السحر فروج عليهم فرعون أن هذا من قبيل السحر لا من قبيل المعجزة ثم هيجهم وحرضهم على مخالفته والكفر به .
"قال" فرعون "للملإ حوله إن هذا لساحر عليم" فائق في علم السحر
