قَالَتْ فَذَلِكُنَّ الَّذِي لُمْتُنَّنِي فِيهِ وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدتُّهُ عَن نَّفْسِهِ فَاسَتَعْصَمَ وَلَئِن لَّمْ يَفْعَلْ مَا آمُرُهُ لَيُسْجَنَنَّ وَلَيَكُوناً مِّنَ الصَّاغِرِينَ

Qalat fathalikunna allathee lumtunnanee feehi walaqad rawadtuhu AAan nafsihi faistAAsama walain lam yafAAal ma amuruhu layusjananna walayakoonan mina alssaghireena

Ta ce: &quotTo wannan ne fa wanda kuka, zarge(1) ni a cikinsa! Kuma lalle ne, haƙiƙa na nħme shi daga kansa, sai ya tsare gida, kuma nĩ inã rantsuwa, idan bai aikata abin da nake umurnin sa ba, haƙiƙa anã ɗaure shi. Haƙĩƙa, yanã kasancewa daga ƙasƙantattu.&quot

She said: "There before you is the man about whom ye did blame me! I did seek to seduce him from his (true) self but he did firmly save himself guiltless!....and now, if he doth not my bidding, he shall certainly be cast into prison, and (what is more) be of the company of the vilest!"
She said: This is he with respect to whom you blamed me, and certainly I sought his yielding himself (to me), but he abstained, and if he does not do what I bid him, he shall certainly be imprisoned, and he shall certainly be of those who are in a state of ignominy.
She said: This is he on whose account ye blamed me. I asked of him an evil act, but he proved continent, but if he do not my behest he verily shall be imprisoned, and verily shall be of those brought low.

Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)

She said,

... وَلَقَدْ رَاوَدتُّهُ عَن نَّفْسِهِ فَاسَتَعْصَمَ ...

and I did seek to seduce him, but he refused, (to obey me).

Some scholars said that;

when the women saw Yusuf's beauty, she told them about his inner beauty that they did not know of, being chaste and beautiful from the inside and outside.

She then threatened him,

... وَلَئِن لَّمْ يَفْعَلْ مَا آمُرُهُ لَيُسْجَنَنَّ وَلَيَكُونًا مِّنَ الصَّاغِرِينَ ﴿٣٢﴾

And now if he refuses to obey my order, he shall certainly be cast into prison, and will be one of those who are disgraced.

This is when Prophet Yusuf sought refuge with Allah from their evil and wicked plots,

" إن هذا إلا ملك كريم قالت فذلكن الذي لمتنني فيه " تقول هذا معتذرة إليهن بأن هذا حقيق أن يحب لجماله وكماله" ولقد راودته عن نفسه فاستعصم " أي فامتنع قال بعضهم لما رأين جماله الظاهر أخبرتهن بصفاته الحسنة التي تخفى عنهن وهي العفة مع هذا الجمال ثم قالت تتوعده " ولئن لم يفعل ما آمره ليسجنن وليكونن من الصاغرين " فعند ذلك استعاذ يوسف عليه السلام من شرهن وكيدهن .

"قالت" امرأة العزيز لما رأت ما حل بهن "فذلكن" فهذا هو "الذي لمتنني فيه" في حبه بيان لعذرها "ولقد راودته عن نفسه فاستعصم" امتنع "ولئن لم يفعل ما آمره" به "ليسجنن وليكونا من الصاغرين" الذليلين فقلن له أطع مولاتك

لما رأت افتتانهن بيوسف أظهرت عذر نفسها بقولها : " لمتنني فيه " أي بحبه , و " ذلك " بمعنى " هذا " وهو اختيار الطبري . وقيل : الهاء للحب , و " ذلك " على بابه , والمعنى : ذلكن الحب الذي لمتنني فيه , أي حب هذا هو ذلك الحب . واللوم الوصف بالقبيح .
