وَإِذَا حُشِرَ النَّاسُ كَانُوا لَهُمْ أَعْدَاء وَكَانُوا بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ كَافِرِينَ

وَإِذَا رَأى الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ شُرَكَاءهُمْ قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا هَـؤُلاء شُرَكَآؤُنَا الَّذِينَ كُنَّا نَدْعُوْ مِن دُونِكَ فَألْقَوْا إِلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلَ إِنَّكُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ
Waitha raa allatheena ashrakoo shurakaahum qaloo rabbana haolai shurakaona allatheena kunna nadAAoo min doonika faalqaw ilayhimu alqawla innakum lakathiboona

Hausa Translation
Kuma idan waɗanda suka yi shirka suka ga abũbuwan shirkarsu sai su ce: "Yã Ubangijinmu! Waɗannan ne abũbuwan shirkarmu waɗanda muka kasance munã kira baicinKa". Sai su jħfa magana zuwa gare su, "Lalle ne ku, haƙĩƙa, maƙaryata ne."
When those who gave partners to Allah will see their "partners", they will say: "Our Lord! these are our 'partners,' those whom we used to invoke besides Thee." But they will throw back their word at them (and say): "Indeed ye are liars!"
And when those who associate (others with Allah) shall see their associate-gods, they shall say: Our Lord, these are our associate-gods on whom we called besides Thee. But they will give them back the reply: Most surely you are liars.
And when those who ascribed partners to Allah behold those partners of theirs, they will say: Our Lord! these are our partners unto whom we used to cry instead of Thee. But they will fling to them the saying: Lo! ye verily are liars!
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
The gods of the Idolators will disown Them at the Time when They need them most
Then Allah tells us that their gods will disown them when they need them most.
He says:
وَإِذَا رَأى الَّذِينَ أَشْرَكُواْ شُرَكَاءهُمْ ...
And when those who associated partners with Allah see their partners,
meaning, those whom they used to worship in this world.
... قَالُواْ رَبَّنَا هَـؤُلاء شُرَكَآؤُنَا الَّذِينَ كُنَّا نَدْعُوْ مِن دُونِكَ فَألْقَوْا إِلَيْهِمُ الْقَوْلَ إِنَّكُمْ لَكَاذِبُونَ ﴿٨٦﴾
they will say: "Our Lord! These are our partners whom we used to call upon besides you.''
But they will throw their statements back at them (saying): "You are indeed liars!''
i.e., those gods will say to them, `you are lying. We never commanded you to worship us.'
Allah says:
وَمَنْ أَضَلُّ مِمَّن يَدْعُو مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ مَن لاَّ يَسْتَجِيبُ لَهُ إِلَى يَوْمِ الْقِيَـمَةِ وَهُمْ عَن دُعَآئِهِمْ غَـفِلُونَ
وَإِذَا حُشِرَ النَّاسُ كَانُواْ لَهُمْ أَعْدَآءً وَكَانُواْ بِعِبَادَتِهِمْ كَـفِرِينَ
And who is more astray than one who calls upon others besides Allah, such as will not answer him till the Day of Resurrection, and who are (even) unaware of their invocations to them And when the people are gathered (on the Day of Resurrection), they (false deities) will become their enemies and will deny their worship, (46:5-6)
وَاتَّخَذُواْ مِن دُونِ اللَّهِ ءالِهَةً لِّيَكُونُواْ لَهُمْ عِزّاً
كَلاَّ سَيَكْفُرُونَ بِعِبَـدَتِهِمْ وَيَكُونُونَ عَلَيْهِمْ ضِدّاً
And they have taken gods besides Allah, that they might give them honor, power and glory.
Nay, but they will deny their worship, and become their adversaries (on the Day of Resurrection). (19:81-82)
Al-Khalil (Ibrahim) said:
ثُمَّ يَوْمَ الْقِيَـمَةِ يَكْفُرُ بَعْضُكُمْ بِبَعْضٍ
but on the Day of Resurrection, you will disown each other. (29:25)
And Allah says:
وَقِيلَ ادْعُواْ شُرَكَآءَكُمْ
And it will be said (to them): "Call upon your partners.'' (28:64)
And there are many other similar Ayat.
ثم أخبر تعالى عن تبري آلهتهم منهم أحوج ما يكونون إليها فقال " وإذا رأى الذين أشركوا شركاءهم " أي الذين كانوا يعبدونهم في الدنيا " قالوا ربنا هؤلاء شركاؤنا الذين كنا ندعو من دونك فألقوا إليهم القول إنكم لكاذبون " أي قالت لهم الآلهة كذبتم ما نحن أمرناكم بعبادتنا كما قال تعالى " ومن أضل ممن يدعو من دون الله من لا يستجيب له إلى يوم القيامة وهم عن دعائهم غافلون وإذا حشر الناس كانوا لهم أعداء وكانوا بعبادتهم كافرين " وقال تعالى " واتخذوا من دون الله آلهة ليكونوا لهم عزا كلا سيكفرون بعبادتهم ويكونون عليهم ضدا " وقال الخليل عليه الصلاة والسلام " ثم يوم القيامة يكفر بعضكم ببعض " الآية . وقال تعالى " وقيل ادعوا شركاءكم " الآية والآيات في هذا كثيرة .
"وإذا رأى الذين أشركوا شركاءهم" من الشياطين وغيرها "قالوا ربنا هؤلاء شركاؤنا الذين كنا ندعو" نعبدهم "من دونك فألقوا إليهم القول" أي قالوا لهم "إنكم لكاذبون" في قولكم إنكم عبدتمونا كما في آية أخرى "ما كانوا إيانا يعبدون" سيكفرون بعبادتهم
أي أصنامهم وأوثانهم التي عبدوها وذلك أن الله يبعث معبوديهم فيتبعونهم حتى يوردوهم النار . وفي صحيح مسلم : ( من كان يعبد شيئا فليتبعه فيتبع من كان يعبد الشمس الشمس ويتبع من كان يعبد القمر القمر ويتبع من كان يعبد الطواغيت الطواغيت . .. ) الحديث , خرجه من حديث أنس , والترمذي من حديث أبي هريرة , وفيه : ( فيمثل لصاحب الصليب صليبه ولصاحب التصاوير تصاويره ولصاحب النار ناره فيتبعون ما كانوا يعبدون . .. ) وذكر الحديث .
