وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَدْعُونَ إِلَى النَّارِ وَيَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ

وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ أَئِمَّةً يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِمْ فِعْلَ الْخَيْرَاتِ وَإِقَامَ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاء الزَّكَاةِ وَكَانُوا لَنَا عَابِدِينَ
WajaAAalnahum aimmatan yahdoona biamrina waawhayna ilayhim fiAAla alkhayrati waiqama alssalati waeetaa alzzakati wakanoo lana AAabideena

Kuma Muka sanya su shugabanni, sunã shiryarwa da umurninMu. Kuma Muka yi wahayi zuwa gare su da ayyukan alhħri da tsayar da salla da bãyar da zakka. Kuma sun kasance mãsu bauta gare Mu.
And We made them leaders, guiding (men) by Our Command, and We sent them inspiration to do good deeds, to establish regular prayers, and to practise regular charity; and they constantly served Us (and Us only).
And We made them Imams who guided (people) by Our command, and We revealed to them the doing of good and the keeping up of prayer and the giving of the alms, and Us (alone) did they serve;
And We made them chiefs who guide by Our command, and We inspired in them the doing of good deeds and the right establishment of worship and the giving of alms, and they were worshippers of Us (alone).
Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)
وَجَعَلْنَاهُمْ أَئِمَّةً ...
And We made them leaders,
means, examples to be followed.
... يَهْدُونَ بِأَمْرِنَا ...
guiding by Our command,
inviting to Him by His leave.
Allah says:
... وَأَوْحَيْنَا إِلَيْهِمْ فِعْلَ الْخَيْرَاتِ وَإِقَامَ الصَّلَاةِ وَإِيتَاء الزَّكَاةِ ...
and We revealed to them the doing of good deeds, performing Salah, and the giving of Zakah,
Here the general is followed by the specific.
... وَكَانُوا لَنَا عَابِدِينَ ﴿٧٣﴾
and of Us (Alone) they were the worshippers.
means, they did what they enjoined others to do.
The Prophet Lut
Then Allah mentions Lut, whose full name was Lut bin Haran bin Azar. He believed in Ibrahim and followed him, and migrated with him, as Allah says:
فَـَامَنَ لَهُ لُوطٌ وَقَالَ إِنِّى مُهَاجِرٌ إِلَى رَبِّى
So Lut believed in him. He (Ibrahim) said: "I will emigrate for the sake of my Lord.'' (29:26)
Allah gave him wisdom and knowledge; He sent Revelation to him, made him a Prophet and appointed him to Sadum (Sodom) and its vicinity, but they rejected him and resisted him, so Allah utterly destroyed them, as He tells us in several places in His Book.
" وجعلناهم أئمة " أي يقتدى بهم " يهدون بأمرنا " أي يدعون إلى الله بإذنه ولهذا قال " وأوحينا إليهم فعل الخيرات وإقام الصلاة وإيتاء الزكاة " من باب عطف الخاص على العام " وكانوا لنا عابدين " أي فاعلين لما يأمرون الناس به ثم عطف بذكر لوط وهو بن هاران بن آزر كان قد آمن بإبراهيم عليه السلام واتبعه وهاجر معه .
"وجعلناهم أئمة" بتحقيق الهمزتين وإبدال الثانية ياء يقتدى بهم في الخير "يهدون" الناس" "بأمرنا" إلى ديننا "وأوحينا إليهم فعل الخيرات وإقامة الصلاة وإيتاء الزكاة" أي أن تفعل وتقام وتؤتى منهم ومن أتباعهم وحذف هاء إقامة تخفيف
أي رؤساء يقتدى بهم في الخيرات وأعمال الطاعات . ومعنى " بأمرنا " أي بما أنزلنا عليهم من الوحي والأمر والنهي ; فكأنه قال يهدون بكتابنا وقيل : المعنى يهدون الناس إلى ديننا بأمرنا إياهم بإرشاد الخلق , ودعائهم إلى التوحيد .

«وَجَعَلْناهُمْ أَئِمَّةً» الواو عاطفة وفعل ماض وفاعله ومفعولاه والجملة معطوفة على ما سبق «يَهْدُونَ» مضارع مرفوع بثبوت النون والواو فاعل والجملة صفة لأئمة «بِأَمْرِنا» متعلقان بحال محذوفة «وَأَوْحَيْنا» الواو عاطفة وفعل ماض وفاعله والجملة معطوفة «إِلَيْهِمْ» متعلقان بالفعل المتقدم «فِعْلَ» مفعول به «الْخَيْراتِ» مضاف إليه «وَإِقامَ» معطوف على فعل «الصَّلاةِ» مضاف إليه «وَإِيتاءَ الزَّكاةِ» عطف على فعل والزكاة مضاف إليه «وَكانُوا لَنا عابِدِينَ» الواو عاطفة وكان واسمها وخبرها ولنا متعلقان بعابدين
