فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِمْ فَسَوَّاهَا

Hausa Translation

Sai suka ƙaryata shi, sa´an nan suka sõke ta. Sabõda haka Ubangijinsu Ya darkãke su, sabõda zunubinsu. Sa´an nan Ya daidaita ta (azãbar ga mai laifi da maras laifi).

Then they rejected him (as a false prophet), and they hamstrung her. So their Lord, on account of their crime, obliterated their traces and made them equal (in destruction, high and low)!
But they called him a liar and slaughtered her, therefore their Lord crushed them for their sin and levelled them (with the ground).
But they denied him, and they hamstrung her, so Allah doomed them for their sin and rased (their dwellings).

Asbabu n-Nuzuul (Occasions of Revelation)

Then Allah says,

فَكَذَّبُوهُ فَعَقَرُوهَا ...

Then they denied him and they killed it.

which means they rejected what he came with. This resulted in them killing the she-camel that Allah had brought out of the rock as a sign for them and a proof against them.

... فَدَمْدَمَ عَلَيْهِمْ رَبُّهُم بِذَنبِهِمْ ...

So their Lord destroyed them because of their sin,

meaning, He became angry with them and He annihilated them.

... فَسَوَّاهَا ﴿١٤﴾

Fasawwaha!

meaning, He made the punishment descend upon them all equally.

Qatadah said,

"It has reached us that the leader of tribe of Thamud did not kill the she-camel until their youth, their elderly, their males and their females all pledged allegiance to him. So when the people cooperated in killing her, Allah destroyed them all with the same punishment due to their sin.''

قال الله تعالى " فكذبوه فعقروها " أي كذبوه فيما جاءهم به فأعقبهم ذلك أن عقروا الناقة التي أخرجها الله من الصخرة آية لهم وحجة عليهم " فدمدم عليهم ربهم بذنبهم " أي غضب عليه فدمر عليهم " فسواها " أي فجعل العقوبة نازلة عليهم على السواء قال قتادة بلغنا أن أحيمر ثمود لم يعقر الناقة حتى بايعه صغيرهم وكبيرهم وذكرهم وأنثاهم فلما اشترك القوم عقرها دمدم الله عليهم بذنبهم فسواها .

" فكذبوه " في قوله ذلك عن الله المرتب عليه نزول العذاب بهم إن خالفوه " فعقروها " قتلوها ليسلم لهم ماء شربها " فدمدم " أطبق " عليهم ربهم " العذاب " بذنبهم فسواها " أي الدمدمة عليهم , أي عمهم بها فلم يفلت منهم أحد

أي كذبوا صالحا عليه السلام في قوله لهم : [ إنكم تعذبون إن عقرتموها ] .

I'raab - grammatical analysis of the Qur'an

«فَكَذَّبُوهُ» ماض وفاعله ومفعوله والجملة معطوفة على ما قبلها «فَعَقَرُوها» عطف على كذبوه بالفاء.
«فَدَمْدَمَ» ماض مبني على الفتح «عَلَيْهِمْ» متعلقان بالفعل «رَبُّهُمْ» فاعل والجملة معطوفة على ما قبلها «بِذَنْبِهِمْ» متعلقان بالفعل «فَسَوَّاها» ماض ومفعوله والفاعل مستتر والجملة معطوفة على ما قبلها.

فَعَقَرُوهَا فَقَالَ تَمَتَّعُواْ فِي دَارِكُمْ ثَلاَثَةَ أَيَّامٍ ذَلِكَ وَعْدٌ غَيْرُ مَكْذُوبٍ
